Capacity Building Through Nursing Preceptorship
and Empowering Nursing Skills in HIV/AIDS
Workshop on “Capacity Building Through Nursing Preceptorship and Empowering Nursing Skills in HIV/AIDS” was organized by Government of Tamilnadu, Health and Family Welfare Department and co-ordinated by Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai.
This workshop was conducted in 5 phases for 3 days for Grade I / II / III Govt. Nurses in Tamil Nadu.
1st phase (11th to 13th March 2009) – The participants were from the districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Karur.
2nd phase (1st to 3rd April 2009) – The participants were from the districts of Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, Salem and The Nilgiris.
3rd phase (5th to 7th April 2009) – Consisted of participants from Perambalur, Ariyalur, Trichy, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai.
4th phase (4th to 6th May 2009) – The participants were from Madurai, Sivagangai, Theni, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar.
5th phase (4th to 6th August 2009) – The participants were from Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.
Certificates were issued to both resource persons and the participants (Nursing Superintendents).
The participants were accommodated at Dhyana Ashram, Chennai.
The participants were taken for sight seeing to the beach, temple, etc. Transport was arranged for the participants.
The workshop was funded by TNSACS.
On 6th August 2009, Workshop valedictory function was conducted headed by Hon’ble Thiru M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Avl. Minister for Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Tamilnadu, Thiru V.K. Subburaj, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Selvi Apoorva, I.A.S., Special Secretary to Government, Health & Family Welfare Department, Dr. (Flt.Lt.)P. Nandagopalasamy, Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Mrs. Sorna Leela, Deputy Director of Medical and Rural Health Services (N) and Mrs.G. Josephine R.Little Flower, Registrar of Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council were present.
