PHILOSOPHY
AND PURPOSE OF C.K. SCHOOL OF NURSING MANAGED BY S.S.C. MEDICAL
AND EDUCATIONAL TRUST, ERODE.
Health is a fundamental right of every human being.
There is a shift in the health system based on primary health care,
in which nurses in particular form a major group. They are an important
member of the health team who could contribute to health promotion
care, prevention and rehabilitation, not only in the hospital but
also in the community. Nursing education is the corner stone for
progress and achievement.
With the objective or promoting higher health education
and meeting the current health needs of the community, the S.S.C.
Medical and Educational Trust founded in the Year 1993 has started
a school of Nursing as a first phase of its activities with the
hope that the students of the C.K. School of Nursing would give
effective nursing care in the hospitals and community.
Objectives :
The nurse on completing this course will be able
to :
- Demonstrate awareness of, and skills required in the Nursing
process. They will be competent to,
a) Assess the nursing needs of individuals,
families and communities from birth to death.
b) Plan appropriate action to meet
their needs through competent nursing care.
c) Work as a team in promoting health,
preventing illness, restoring health and rehabilitation.
d) Evaluates effectiveness of nursing
and health care activities.
- Applies relevant knowledge from the humanities, biological
and behavioural sciences in carrying out health care and nursing
activities and functions.
- Shows sensitivity and skill in human relationships and communication
in her daily work.
- Demonstrates skill in the use of problem solving methods in
nursing practice.
- Gains knowledge of health resources in the community and the
country.
- Demonstrates leadership skills in working with the health team,
community and others in the provision of health care.
- Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to professional
behaviour.
- Demonstrates awareness of the necessity of belonging to professional
organizations.
- Demonstrates ability in self-awareness, self-evaluation in personal
and professional life.
- Promotion of health, follow precautions against illness, restoration
of health and rehabilitation.
- Practices ethical values in their personal and professional
life.
