Child Jesus College of Nursing was started in the year 2006 with G.O (Ms.) No.235. Our College is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and recognized by the Tamilnadu Nurse and Midwives council and the Indian Nursing Council, offering the degree course in Basic B.Sc. Nursing. The long awaited day dawned on 20-12-2006 when the Basic B.Sc.Nursing started with a strength of 9 students.

After the necessary inspection from Tamilnadu Nurse and Midwives Council, Dr. M.G.R. University and Indian Nursing council (INC) were over, we received the following…

  • Certificate of registeration from Dr. M.G.R. University on 02-11-2006.
  • Indian Nursing Council F.No. 18-29 / 3489 – INC dated 28-12-2006 Resolution No.118/02/NOV/2006.
  • Provisional Affiliation from Dr. M.G.R. University on 23-01-2007.
  • We have also sent the filled in application for the process of registration of our students in the university.
  • We have satisfied all the INC norms and conditions and have registered “The Child Jesus College of Nursing” in the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

We started the Basic B.Sc., Nursing course with 9 students on 20-12-2006 of which one student discontinued, 2007-2008, we have 31 students for the second batch of B.Sc. Nursing and 2008-2009 we have 34 students for the Third batch of B.Sc. Nursing.

Staff:

As per Indian Nursing Council requirements, we have sufficient Nursing Faculties, Part Time Faculties, Administrative and Hostel Staff.

Students:

We started the Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a strength of 9 students, the second batch is 31 students and the third batch is 31 students.

We are happy to bring to your notice that we are following the syllabus & curriculum and a standard clinical staffing pattern as mentioned by the Indian Nursing Council, for our students.

College Physical Facilities:
Building:

We have our own College, Hostel, 200 bedded Hospital and a Community Health Centre. We have adequate rooms for our staff and students.

We have four well-furnished classrooms for our B.Sc. Students and 4 for GNM students. We also have a Computer lab. Nursing Arts lab, Anatomy lab, Nutrition Lab, Paediatric Lab, Gynaec & Obstetrics lab, Community Health Nursing Lab and Bio-Chemistry and Micro Biology lab.

We have a well-equipped Audio visual Room with a Television, DVD Player, OHP, Laptop, LCD Projector & Audio Tape Recorder.

Library:

We have our own Computerized Library fully equipped with furniture and updated with the latest nursing magazines, National & International Journals.

Transport:

We have our own vehicles like Mini Bus, a Van (Trax) and a Maxi Cab van for Community Health. We use these means of transport for the students to go for Community Health & Field visits, outings, etc., with well experienced drivers.

Hostel:

Our college has its own Hostel “St Helens’ Hostel, wherein we accommodate all our students. The hostel is furnished with Bedrooms, Recreation room, visitor’s room, sick room, room for night duty nurses, guest room, warden’s room, kitchen, dining, store room, washing & ironing room with the required sanitary facilities.

Auditorium:

We have a spacious open and closed auditorium for our college functions, get-togethers, meetings, workshops, etc. We also propose to construct a big closed auditorium in our campus at the earliest.

COMMUNITY HEALTH:

We have our own Child Jesus Rural Community Health Centre at Nagamangalam (extension of Child Jesus Hospital), which cater to the medical needs of the surrounding villages. We also have the maternity facilities here where we admit patients and conduct the deliveries. There is also class room facilities and accommodation facilities for the students and staff in the centre.

With regard to the staffing pattern, we have a full-fledged staff patterns as per INC requirements both Fulltime and Partime Faculities.
