 Annual Report  

The KMCH College of Nursing was established in the year 1993 with annual intake of 50 B.Sc(N). The college is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Tamil nadu State Nursing and affiliated to the Tamil nadu Dr. MGR Medical University .Later in the year 1999 the M.Sc(N) was introduced in 4 branches namely Medical Surgical Nursing – 2, Pediatric Nursing – 2, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing- 2 and Community Health Nursing-2. From 2006 - 2007 the annual M.Sc(N) intake has been increased to 20. In 2010-11, M.Sc(N) seats were enhanced to 40 with introduction of Psychiatric Nursing speciality. In 2010-11, Post Basic B.Sc(N) was also introduced with annual intake of 40. one year Post Basic Diploma in Critical Care Nursing and Emergency & Disaster Nursing were introduced with an annual intake of 20 in each program from 2012-2013. The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University has recognized the College as Research Center to offer Ph.D program in Medical Surgical Nursing from 2012-2013 onwards.

Currently 20th batch of B.Sc(N), 15th Batch of M.Sc(N), 3rd Batch of Post Basic B.Sc(N) and 1st Batch of Ph.D in Medical Surgical Nursing are undergoing their respective 1st year program.

The curricular and co-curricular activities are meticulously planned and implemented as per the INC, State Nursing Council and University regulations and norms. The clinical facility available in our Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, a 700 bedded Super Speciality Hospital provides rich and extensive Clinical Experience to both our Under Graduates and Post Graduates Students. We also have our own Rural Health Center at Veeriampalayam and Urban Center at Ramnagar from where our students gain varied Community Health Experience. Apart from our parent Institutions to enhance students Clinical learning they are sent to other Centers such as Coimbatore Corporation Centers, Government Hospital, Coimbatore, Primary Health Centers at Sarkarsamakulam and Sankara Eye Hospital.

With the constant support and motivation of our Management and the team work of the Principal and Faculty members we could achieve good results in the University examination consistently. Results of the last three years are presented below.

Co Curricular Activities

The NSS unit of KMCH College of Nursing and SNA Unit are active and provide wide variety of Co Curricular and Extra Curricular activities.

  • In collaboration with St. John's Ambulance, Tamil Nadu State and KMCH College of Nursing have organized a Workshop on First Aid, Emergency & Disaster Management, held in 08.11.2012.
  • To mark the World Health Day – 2013, SNA Unit of KMCH College of Nursing has organized an Intra –Collegiate Competition for the B.Sc(N) students with the theme "High Blood Pressure".
  • Regular and Special Camp Activities are done effectively by our NSS Unit. A special camp was conducted from 15-03-2013 to 21-03-2013 at Sarkarsamakulam Primary Health Center which was inaugurated by Dr. Geetha, Medical Officer, Sarkarsamakulam, Primary Health Center and presided over by Prof. Dr.Prof.S. Madhavi, Principal, KMCH College of Nursing, Coimbatore. As a part of special camp various activities including hypertension and diabetic screening camp was conducted by Prof. Sivagami Ramanathan, NSS Program Officer at Kalapatti Panchayat Village with 97 II year B.Sc(N) students and 5 Faculty members.


Students Achievement
  • Our students participated in District Level Inter Collegiate Painting and Tamil Poem Writing competititon organized by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit. Our III year B.Sc(N) student Ms. Anitha Roselin received the Third Prize for Tamil Poem Writing from the Coimbatore District Collector Thiru. Karunakaran, I.A.S.
  • Students Received First Prize in Quiz Competition and in Dance, Second Prize in Elocution at the West Zonal Level in the International Nurses Day celebration 2012 conducted by the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University.
  • Service Award - To KMCH College of Nursing, Honour is received from his Excellency Dr. K. Rosaiah, Governor for enrolling and training 600 volunteers for Iyarkkai Mission -2012, a project of St. John's Ambulance, Tamil Nadu.
Faculty Achievement
  • Prof. Dr.Prof.S.Madhavi, Principal, KMCH College of Nursing has received the Best Nurse Educator Award in Tamil Nadu State during Nurses Day Celebration held in 2011 at Apollo College of Nursing, Chennai. and also received the Best Teacher Award from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai during Nurses Day Celebration -2012.



Conference and Seminars Organized
  • To update faculty competences Staff development programmes, Journal Clubs are conducted regularly every month.
  • In Collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Coimbatore Zone and Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, One Day Seminar was organized on "Nurses Enclave". Around 280 members of various Nursing Colleges and Hospitals have attended this Seminar.
  • In Collaboration with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, KMCH College of Nursing have organized South Zonal Level Conference on "Research Methodology" with the Theme "Evidence Based Research Enhances Evidence Based Practice ". More than 300 delegates from Tamil Nadu and various States have attended this Conference.
  • As a part of South Zonal Level Conference on "Research Methodology" KMCH College of Nursing, have conducted a One Day Skill Workshop Cum Training on Application of SPSS Package.
  • Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Coimbatore Zone and KMCH College of Nursing, jointly organized a One Day Conference on "Recent Advances in Cardiac Drug Therapy and Nursing Implications" with the Theme : "Empower to Ensure Medication Safety"




Research Activities

  • Prof. Dr.Prof.S. Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar, The Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai has inaugurated the KMCH Center for Nursing Research on 7th March 2013.
  • KMCH College of Nursing has received the approval from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai for Ph.D in Medical Surgical Nursing Speciality for which the students enrollment is on progress.
  • Prof. Dr.Prof.S. Madhavi, Principal KMCH College of Nursing, Coimbatore is appointed as an Executive Editor of The Tamil Nadu Nursing Council Journal of Medical Surgical Nursing.
