Course Details:

*    B.Sc., (N)
**  Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery
Basic B.Sc.,Nursing :
It is an non-semester, 4 years Degree Programme. The course of the study and scheme of the examination will be followed as prescribed by the TN Dr. MGR Medical University. The students will be trained clinically in Ultra Modern MIOT Multispeciality Hospital to gain rich experience. In addition, the students will be trained in various other Government / Private Medical Institutions and Community Health Centers as per the course requirement. It is a must to have 100% attendance in each year in both theory and practical before proceeding for the examinations. Those students who miss any part of the clinical postings for reasons other than availing sick leave will be re posted in the same specialty.  The medium of instruction of the course is English.
DGNM:    
It is a non-semester, 3 ½  years Diploma Programme. The course of the study and scheme of the examination will be followed as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. The students will be trained clinically in Ultra Modern MIOT Multispeciality Hospital to gain rich experience. In addition, the students will be trained in various other Government / Private Medical Institutions and Community Health Centres as per the course requirement. The medium of instruction of the course is English.
Admission Regulations:
The students will be admitted following the rules of Government of Tamilnadu and the TN Dr. MGR Medical University. Single female candidates or widows without any encumbrance are eligible to apply.
Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the Basic B.Sc. Degree Course in Nursing should have passed the qualifying examinations (Academic Stream) after a period of 12 years of study with the following subjects:  English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) Candidate should obtain individual pass in each subject with not less than 35% and the aggregate of 50% which is mandatory. Candidates should have passed in all the subjects in one and the same attempt and the improvement marks will not be considered for admission.

 

  • For DGNM course can be from any group with 45% of marks.

Age limit for admission:
A candidate should have completed the minimum age of 17 years and also shall not have completed 21 years of age on the 1st of July of the respective academic year.
Medical Fitness Certificate:
Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the Institution, a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer certifying that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course and does not suffer from any disability or contagious diseases.
Eligibility Certificate:
Candidates who have passed any qualifying examination other than HSc., course conducted by the Tamilnadu Government, shall obtain the eligibility certificate before admission from the concerned university. This is applicable for B.Sc.,  Degree only.
Selection:
*    The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in H.Sc., and performance in the interview. All the candidates selected to pursue the nursing course shall submit the original certificates at the time of admission and that will be returned only after the completion of course. All the eligible candidates will be admitted subject to the  regulations of the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and that of Indian Nursing Council.

** The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in H.Sc., and performance in the interview. All the candidates selected to pursue the nursing course shall submit the original certificates at the time of admission and that will be returned only after the completion of course. All the eligible candidates will be admitted subject to the  regulations of Indian Nursing Council . All the original certificates of the admitted candidates are submitted to the Nurses Training Section at Govt. Hospital for verification.
