MIOT college of Nursing is established by MIOT Medical and Educational Trust , MIOT Hospitals, Chennai in 2005. MIOT Hospitals is an ultra modern multi speciality tertiary care hospital, which is designed and constructed as per the international standards.
MIOT Hospitals is the dream project of Prof. Dr. P.V.A. Mohandas, a Colossus in the field of Orthopaedics whose great vision and burning desire for excellence are instrumental in establishing a center that provides world class health care to the people of our country.

Nursing is based on values of caring, and aims to help individuals to attain independence in self-care. It necessitates development of compassion and understanding of human behavior among its practitioners to provide care with respect and dignity and protect the rights of individuals and groups.
Nursing contributes to the health services in a vital and significant way in the health care delivery system. It recognizes national health goals and is committed to participate in the implementation of National Health policies and programs. It aims at identifying health needs of the people; planning and providing quality care independently and in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups.

Undergraduate nursing program is broad based education within an academic framework, specially directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health Policy 2002 and Indian Nursing Council.

Aims and objectives:

To prepare our nursing students to imbibe wide and deep knowledge, proper professional skills and proper attitude so that they can provide optimum health care to all.

To prepare our students in multi faceted functions, such as First level health care providers, Professional Nurse Practitioners, Supervisors, Teachers, Administrators and Researchers.

To develop the students as persons and as members of the nursing profession to uphold the dignity of the profession, to establish professional autonomy in nursing education and to practice research after graduation.

To train the nursing graduates to cope with modern technological advancements in the management in various health care settings and to take right decisions in complex situations and also to function independently as well as in collaboration with other team members to provide holistic patient care.

To train the students to function as committed individuals with a sense of accountability after graduation. It is expected of them to become good citizens through self-discipline and self-evaluation.

To encourage the students to participate in all professional and continuing educational activities to attain good professional and personal development.

Mrs. Mallika Mohandas who head the MIOT Medical and Educational Trust have excellent plans in the field of Education too. It was also a long cherished dream of our Managing Director to set up a model College of Nursing to train B.Sc., Nurses who can provide nursing care as per the international standards. This dream has become a reality with the commissioning of the College of Nursing in this academic year 2005 – 2006.
