MMM College of Nursing under the Madras Medical Mission is being launched with a view to train professional nurses who will have the potential to deliver quality nursing care to the individual. The college has got permission from Government of Tamil Nadu, the State Nursing Council, the Indian Nursing Council and Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University after consecutive inspections and has been recognized as a Christian Minority institution with annual intake of 50 seats. The MMM College of Nursing was officially inaugurated on 24 th September 2008.
The first Lamp Lighting ceremony was held on 4 th February 2009. Dr. Roselin Conway, Nursing Director Shree Valli Anantharama Krishnan Institute of Child Health Chennai and Dr. Soudamani Chandran graced the occation as Chief guests.
The Madras Medical Mission – Administration and Sister Mary - Nursing Coordinator Training has started a nurses club especially for the nurses on October 8 th 2008. The nursing students and the faculty of College of Nursing as a part of nurses club involved in the continuing nursing education.
On 20 th December 2008 to cheer, Christmas day celebration was conducted where Mrs. Philomena Maria Das, Dean- MMM College of Health Sciences graced the occasion.
The International Nurses Day was celebrated with joined hands with the nurses club on 12 th May 2009. Dr. Lt. Col. Prema Kumari, Principal Meenakshi College of Nursing presided the function along with board members.
The first Student Nurses Association office bearers – official election was held on 4 th June 2009 followed by a scientific presentation on “Swine flue” . |
