The college of Nursing has developed with full scale infrastructural facilities in permanent building are a four storied framed structure. It has the total area of over 32, 400 sq. ft.

Lecture halls:

 

The college has spacious and sufficient number of lecture halls that can accommodate 25 to 50 students per lecture hall. The rooms are well furnished, ventilated and have conducive atmosphere which stimulates academic learning

 

Demonstration halls:

 There are also separate Halls to carry out demonstration as well practicals with sufficient number of equipment and accessories for the students to practice.

LIBRARY

Library facilities are available for the staff and the students of this college. All students and staff of the college are the members of the library and are entitled to borrow books from the library.


The library and the reading room shall be kept open on all working days. The library has more than 5000 volumes of books related to Anatomy, Physiology, Surgical Nursing, Medical and Nursing books and journals. A qualified Librarian is in charge of the library and is assisted by a few library assistants.   The digital library has a number of video cassettes showing various techniques and various methods of treating the patient in various conditions. In addition, different t form of visual aids, such as over head projectors and slide projectors are used to impart effective teaching. In addition, newspapers and weekly magazines in English, Tamil, Telugu & Malayalam are provided in the library and hostel to facilitate the students of other states


Hospital (Parental / Affiliated)

Madha Hospital with 650 beds strength is under construction and the hospital will be completed in the month of the September . The hospital opening inauguration will be held in the month of October. The bed distribution and statistics will be informed to the office once the hospital started to function.

We also organize clinical tie – up for day & night shifts with E.S.I. Hospital. Ayanavaram, Institute of Mental Health, Kilpauk, Sarala Neurology Hospital & Research Centre, Kilpauk, Trust Hospital, Ayanavaram, Chennai Kaliappa Hospital, Voluntary Health Services and Corporation Hospitals and Corporation Health Posts and Institute of Public Health, Poonamallee to acquire knowledge and skill in community health nursing experiences of primary health centre.

Hostel facilities

Separate hostels are provided for Girl students and they shall be governed by a Hostel Council.

The hostel rooms are well lit & spacious. Steam cooking pantry, veg & non veg food, common rooms with recreational facilities like. T.V., Newspapers, magazine & Indoor games are provided.

  1. The Principal shall be the ex – officio Chief Warden and her decision will be final on all matters regarding discipline, administration and finance. She shall be assisted by wardens of Arul Mary Girl’s Hostel.
  2. A student admitted to the hostel will have no claim to single or double room accommodation and will have to stay in the room allotted to her.
  3. Inmates of each room are jointly responsible for the furniture, electrical fittings, etc., and any damage to the hostel property is recoverable from them.
  4. Ragging in any form is strictly PROHIBITED, and those who violate this rule will be expelled from the hostel as well as from the college.
  5. No male guest can be entertained in the Girl’s hostel.
  6. Use of drug, alcohol and any kind of gambling are strictly prohibited.
  7. Students are not permitted to entertain any day – scholar / guest to stay with them, without prior permission form the resident warden.
  8. In case of serious illness and infectious disease, the student should bring this to the notice of the resident warden immediately.
  9. The use of any electrical appliances in the rooms is forbidden.
  10. Services of Dhobi shall be provided for the students. But the students have to pay for the services rendered.
  11. Writing on the walls or pasting of any material on the walls, windows or doors is strictly prohibited.
  12. Students should not organize or address any meeting in the hostel.
  13. Students are permitted to go out once 15 days with prior permission of the Resident Warden and Principal. Details of rules for permission can be had from the warden. While going out they should submit the Permission Card and sign the Movement – register.
  14.  Students are permitted to visit the local guardian once in a month.
  15. Students should report to the hostel after visiting local guardian or after vacation leave, only between 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on the prescribed date.
  16. Parents should report to the hostel only on Sunday between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. or prior intimation should given to the Principal in case of emergency.
  17. Permissions will not be given for arrear students to visit local guardian and no study holidays for arrear student.          
  18. Food from outside (Friends & Relatives) should be checked by the respective wardens before they given it to the students.
  19. When the student is permitted to go out, she should report back on time; failing which further permission will not be granted. 
  20. Permission will not be given for tuition and computer classes out side.
  21. Students should not stay in local guardian’s home during night without submitting parent’s letter to the Principal and getting approved. For the local guardian’s home visit and for the visit to the home town, parents are requested to send the letter directly to the Principal. Letter through e – mail is not entertained.
  22. When parents come to Chennai for any other purpose, they can come to the college and pickup their wards. Asking the students to come to the place where they are staying over phone is not allowed.
  23. Other than parents and authorized local guardians, nobody will be allowed to see their wards. Girl students should not take their friends along with them to see their respective visitors. Visitor time is only after 3.45 p.m.   
  24. Phone calls form parents and authorized local guardians are encouraged.
  25. Hostel students should not board the college buses since the buses are only for Day scholars.
  26. Letters from only parents will be given to the students.
  27. The following are the tentative mess timings to be observed:

Breakfast                      :           06.30 a.m. – 07.00a.m.
Lunch (Holidays)          :           12.00 p.m. – 12.30 p.m.
Evening Tea                  :           04.00 p.m. – 04.15 p.m. 
Dinner              :           07.00 p.m. – 07.30 p.m.

  1. Students have to mark their choice for vegetarian or non – vegetarian food at the beginning of the year and shall continue to be so for the whole period of their study.
  2. Study – time in the morning is from 05.00 a.m. to 06.00 a.m. and at night it is from 09.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. It could be extended upto 11.00 p.m.      
  3. Lights should be put off at 11.00 p.m. This rule will be revised during examination time.
  4. Any student, who wishes to vacate the Hostel must inform the Principal before March 31. She can vacate only after the completion of the academic year.    
  5. Disciplinary action will be taken against inmates who violate the hostel rules. In all matters of discipline, the decision of the Principal is final.
  6. The Resident Warden and the Chief Warden will monitor the above rules.
  7. There shall be silence time from 8.30 to 9.00 p.m during which all the students shall observe rest for rejuvenating their body and mind.
  8. All students must be self disciplined. Nevertheless they should feel relaxed, happy and free.
  9. They should imbibe the great and ancient cultural values of Tamil Nadu and our motherland.
  10. They study at Madha College of Nursing shall bring in a sense of National integration and cosmopolitan outlook among the students.
  11. Every efforts shall be taken by the Management and College Authorities to impart high quality education and cultural values to the students.
  12. Cost, table and shelves shall be provided to the students in the hostel. However they should bring mattress, bed sheets and other necessary materials while joining the hostel.
  13. Whenever there are two or more consecutive holidays, students should not take leave before or after the said holidays. Failure to do so will be treated as absent for all the days including holidays.
Students are instructed to report on the last day of vacation / leave to the Hostel Warden.
