Thirumathi Meenakshi Ammal, the Patron and Thiru A.N. Radhakrishnan, the Chancellor, visualized the College of Nursing which came into existence at Maduravoyal in 1998  with  Dr. Lt. Col. N. Premakumari as Principal at the helm steering the Institution to its present status.  The college began with the B.Sc.(N) program having  26 students, affiliated to the  Tamilnadu Dr. MGR. Medical University.  The strength was increased to 50/year.  In the year 2005, the college was brought under the ambit of the Meenakshi University (Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research Institute) and the PG programme commenced with three specialties.  The PG intake was increased to 25 with all specialties by the Indian Nursing Council in the year 2009.
The College has grown to great heights and today there are 38  faculty members catering to the educational needs of the students. 
The Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor – Dr. T. Gunasagaran and the management as a whole provide the impetus for the institutions continuous growth.
