HISTORY OF THE CHURCH OF SOUTH INDIA - MADRAS DIOCESE
The Diocese of Madras is the oldest Diocese in Church of South India. The church of South India is the result of the Union of churches of varying traditions, Anglican, Methodist, Congregational, Presbyterian and Reformed, in that area. The Diocese is proud of the fact that, the church of South India was inaugurated on 27th September 1947 at St. George’s Cathedral, Chennai. (Diocese of Madras).
The geographical location of the Diocese of Madras is the Northern part
of Tamilnadu and few places in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry.
The Diocese has a Christian population of 2, 07,576 with 65,188 families and 888 congregations nurtured by a Bishop and 144 presbyters. The Diocese run 162 primary & middle Schools and 39 High Schools/Higher Secondary Schools catering to the needs of 30,759 and 39,759 students respectively. The church is conscious of its social responsibility and started organizing rural development projects. There are 37 residential hostels for a total of 2516 children.

Opportunity to be educated for a better future.
To prepare qualified, dedicated and competent professional nurses on
Christian ideology in preventive, curative and rehabilitative wholistic health care to the individual, family in the hospital and Community.
