CSI Rainy Hospital- School of Nursing , which is the second in Tamil Nadu has been  running the three years GNM course successfully for the past 86 years.  At present, INC has made the GNM Course to 3 ½  years.  The New syllabus was introduced in July 2005 and the first batch of 25 students joined as Junior staffs in January 2009.  We have the 25th batch of students admitted to the course in July 2009 and the 21st batch of students who have graduated from our institution.

We are a registered body of  the Christian Medical Association of India, Tamil Nadu Nurses  and Midwives Council and Indian Nursing Council.

The CSI Rainy Hospital – School of  Nursing gives an opportunity for many children to graduate from this institution and also gives us immune pleasure  to see them shine and placed in many reputed institution.  The students are moulded not only academically but also spiritually and in extra curricular activities.

The Student Nurses Association is active throughout the year, where the students participate in all students conference.

Workshops and competitions and have won prize for preparing Midwifery models in “stages of labour” during Biennial Conference held in the year 2004.

The students recently participated in ‘Youth for Christ” competition and won the following prizes.
           a. Second prize in Quiz competition
            b. Second prize for finding Bible reference related to a  specific song.
            c.  Third prize for solo singing.
They have also won the participation  prize for Breast feeding week conducted in Dr.Mehta hospital, Chennai  during their posting.
Our III year students won the first prize in Debate which was conducted in Dr.Mehta hospital.   The III year nursing students were appreciated for the contribution towards the Community outreach programme.  The headmistress of the School in Sholavaram had sent a letter of appreciation for the same on behalf of all the teachers and Community members.

Apart from the academic performance, the students are matured spiritually through active participation in the student Christian movement, various unit meetings and Conferences.  The Evangelical Nurses Fellowship of India in having Fellowship on Thursdays.  Ms. Suganya bagged firs t prize in the Bible quest conducted in one local church.

We, not only train our students, but opportunities are given teaching faculty to update themselves to the growing trends in Nursing.   The teachers are allowed to participate in various conferences, workshop  and in Inservice education programme.

The conference attended by the tutor for the year 2007-08 are
            1) National Community Heallth Nusing  conference at  Christian Medical College Vellore.
            2) Implementation of Community Health Nursing, aspect of revised Curriculum GNM”
           3)‘Orientation to conducting examination according to Board of Nursing Education, South Indian Branch regulation.

We are proud to say that the first Alumni Reunion of the nurses of CSI Rainy School of Nursing was started in September 16th 2006, three batches were honoured and there were 40  participants.
