20 students (first 5 toppers from each class) were awarded for their best performance in the academic year 2009-2010. Best students are honored with appreciation certificate and cash prize.
Overall topper of  B.Sc (N) and M.Sc(N) students were honoured with gold medal and certificate by Saveetha University
IMPORTANT DAYS / EVENTS CELEBRATED
College of Nursing has actively organized and participated in various important days & events
INTERNATIONAL NURSING CONFERENCE

The first International Nursing Conference of Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha University was held on 20, 21 & 22 December 2010 with the theme “Evidence based nursing research: promote education, inform practice and derive quality care policies”. Around 500 delegates across the globe belonging to various countries such as England, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Cannada, Nigeria and Australia and various states in India such as Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, New Delhi, Nagaland, Shillong, Megalaya, Andaman & Nicobar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Assam have participated in the International Nursing Conference 2010.

WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION

B.Sc(N), M.Sc(N)  and P.B.BSc(N) have participated in various programme like Quiz competition, Poster presentation, Essay competition and cultural programme for Breast Feeding Week  Programme which was conducted at Thiruvallur Govt Hospital SMCH and  KKCTH on 03.08.2011 & 04.08.2011 respectively

 

 

 

LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY

The lamp lighting ceremony was conducted on 06.01.2010 for the fifth batch of Saveetha University B.Sc(N) I year students. Dr.Jothi Clara J.Michael , Nursing Director of Global Hospitals & Health City was the chief guest for the ceremony. Dr.Sharadha Ramesh   narrated the significance of lamp and delivered the Pledge to the fresher’s. Vice chancellor felicitated the chief guest. The function was attended by the Vice chancellor, Registrar, external department lecturers, guest, parents and faculty members

SAFE MOTHERHOOD DAY
Department of OBG was celebrated safe motherhood day at IPH, Poonamalle on 05.04.2010. Dr. KarKhughalli, ICO of MCH centre was the chief guest. B.Sc (N) IV year students depicted on the concept of Ante natal care through Villupattu, Intranatal and Newborn Care through skit. More than 50 antenatal mothers were benefited out of this program.

 

 

CAREER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Career orientation programme was held on 06.04.2010 for the outgoing B.Sc(N) students to create the awareness regarding the placement in India and abroad. The special address was delivered by Dr.Nalini, Director of Education and Inaugural address was given by Guest of Honour, Dr.C.Susila, Principal, Billroth College of Nursing and had given a guest lecture on Nursing opportunities in India and abroad. Followed by placement drive had arranged from MMM Hospital, Global hospital, Apollo Hospital, Life line Hospital and Mehta Hospital.

 

CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAMME
CNE programme was conducted on 15.06.10. It was organized by II year PG students on Health Economics – Fulcrum on holistic nursing practice. The scientific session was presented by  Dr.Sheshadri, Former Additional and Secretary Institute of Chartered Accountant of India, presented on Health economics on planning execution and evaluation in India, Dr. P.B.Pillai, Professor and H.O.D. Community Medicine, SMCH, Dr.Rajeswari Ramachandran,  Director of Research, Saveetha University and Dr. C. Kanniammal, Ph.D. Principal, Arulmigu Meenakshiammal College of  Nursing were the resource persons.

GUEST LECTURE
Our students and faculties keep pace with the recent developments in the subjects through regular guest lecture by experts to discuss the recent advancement in various nursing speciality areas. The guest lecturers were Dr. Rossalin Raichel Principal, Indira College of Nursing had presented about IMNCI on 03.08.2010. Community Based Rehabilitation in Psychiatric Nursing was presented by Mrs. Vadhana, Dean, A.J College of Nursing on 29.10.2010. Prof.Hema Suresh, Vice Principal, Meenakshi College of Nursing had given a guest lecture on “Recent advancement in Medical Surgical Nursing” on 20.11.2010.
WORLD ELDERLY DAY
Department of Medical Surgical Nursing celebrated the World Elderly day at St.Thomas Home for Aged, Poonamlle on October 1st. Students  displayed posters on Healthy diet, Exercise, Life style modification etc.. and enacted role play on Healthy Ageing. Elderly people were entertained with games and they were served snacks. Around 50 elderly people benefited out of this program

 

 

WORLD ALZHEIMER’S DAY
World Alzheimer’s day was celebrated by Dept of Mental health Nursing on 18th & 19th October 2010 at Saveetha College of Nursing. B.Sc(N) III Year (36 students), B.Sc(IV) Year(54), P.B.B.Sc(II) Year(44) and M.Sc(N) I Year (18) students participated and organized various events like Seminar, documentary film on Alzheimer’s Disease, Role play on creating awareness for care givers about Alzheimer’s Disease and conducted essay competition on caring patient with Dementia. It was evaluated and best paper was sent to the Alzheimer’s and related disorder society of India (ARDSI).
SNA CULTURAL PROGRAMME

College of Nursing organized the SNA Culturals programme  between 10.11.10 to 13.11.10, for which we have conducted various competitions like dance, extempore, rangoli, Mehandi, Face Painting, Debate, painting, Collage Work, hair Styling, Flower arrangement, essay writing and spot speaking. All competitions are evaluated by the experts from the Medical College and Engineering College. Winners of each competition were appreciated with Prizes and certificates.


CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
Department of Child Health Nursing celebrated the children’s day celebration with the Saveetha Medical College which was conducted on 15th November 2010 at Saveetha Medical College and Hospital. B.Sc(N) III year displayed the posters and participated in essay competition.

WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY

The department of Child Health Nursing celebrated the World Pneumonia Day on 16.11.2010. As a part of the celebration we have conducted various events like quiz competition, poster presentation and debate based on the theme. All the events were evaluated and winners were appreciated with certificates.
WORLD DIABETES DAY

As a part of world diabetic day celebration B.Sc(N) IIIyear (No:36)and B.Sc(N) IV year(No: 54) students  participated in diabetic rally on 19.11.2010 at Nazarethpet which was organized by Saveetha Medical and Hospital to create the awareness regarding Diabetes Mellitus. Our B.Sc(N) students participated in rangoli competition and poster presentation on 20.11.2010 which was held at SMCH.


BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Our nursing students have participated in Blood Donation camp which was organized by Thiruvallur Govt Head Quarters Hospital. Many students have donated the blood  and they were appreciated with the certificates.
ANNUAL SPORTS DAY


Annual sports day for the year 2010 - 2011 was conducted by the Saveetha University at Saveetha University campus, Thandalam between 04.01.2011 to 11.01.2011. As a part of the sports day various competitions were organized within the constituent colleges of Saveetha University. College of Nursing scored the highest  points and bagged the overall trophy for Women

 

WORLD CANCER DAY

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing celebrated World Cancer day on 09.02.2011 with the theme “Teach Children and Teenagers to avoid UV exposure by being Sun Smart” at Panchayat Union School, Chettiped by exhibiting posters on Causes, Pathophysiology, treatment Modalities, prevention etc. Vice Principal cum HOD Prof.S.Aruna delivered the special address. 50 School students were benefited by this programmme.


INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

Women’s day celebrated on 08.03.2011at three different places based on the theme “Equal access to Education, Training and Science & Technology: Pathway to decent work for Women” and focused the role of women in cherishing a happy and healthy family. The Department of Community Health Nursing celebrated the International Women’s Day at Kuthamppakkam Village. Department of obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing had observed international women’s day in Mangalam Maternity Hospital, Poonamallee and Department of Child Health Nursing had celebrated international women’s day in KKCTH

OUTREACH PROGRAMME FOR MENTALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN
Community Health Nursing Department conducted programme at “AnbuMalar” Mentally Challenged home in Ayanavaram on 15.03.2011. Mental status examination was done by M.Sc (N) II year community speciality students for the children.  Health education given with play way method to the inmates. Children were receptive. Totally 28 mentally challenged children between the age group of 5 – 12 years benefitted out of this program. Compliments and snacks were given to the children.

UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION
University convocation was held on 18.03.2011.  36 B.Sc (N) and 20 M.Sc (N) students were awarded their degrees by Saveetha University

 

 


WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY CELEBRATION
Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha University, Community Health Nursing department celebrated world TB day at Kuthambakkam village on 23.03.11. Dr. Sharadha Ramesh Principal, Saveetha College of Nursing delivered an introductory speech in which she highlighted about the causes, signs & symptoms and preventive measures of tuberculosis. B.Sc (N) II year students performed the villupattu regarding importance of DOTs and dietary management of patient with tuberculosis. P.B.B.Sc (N) II year students performed the skit regarding diagnostic measures, DOTs treatment on Tuberculosis. Dr. Maniyan, Medical officer gave a speech on the role of DOTs provider in TB treatment. Dr. Lakshmi Murali, Deputy Director of medical service gave the keynote address.
INSERVICE EDUCATION PORGRAMME


Post Basic B.Sc(N) II (44) students had conducted the  inservice education  programme on 23.03.2011 at KKCTH on infection control for the staff nurses. Around 50 staff nurses were benefitted out of this programme.

 

 

WORLD HEALTH DAY

Community Health Nursing department celebrated   World Health Day at Ayanavaram urban health centre on 07.04.11. Dr. Pushpa, Zonal officer of Ayanavaram urban health centre gave a speech on the current theme of WHO day. Mrs. Kanaga Durga, MCHO of Ayanavaram urban health centre also gave the keynote address. She appreciated the students of Saveetha College of Nursing for their performance. Dr. Sharadha Ramesh, Principal, Saveetha College of Nursing, delivered an impressive speech in which she highlighted about the Antimicrobial Drug Resistance. Totally 40 Antenatal mothers and 20 women were benefitted out of this programme.

INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY
International Nurses Day was celebrated on 04.05.2011 at seminar hall, saveetha Engineering college . the theme of the international nurses day was ““CLOSING THE GAP: INCREASING ACCESS AND EQUITY”. Dr. Kamala Subbian, Principal, Sri Venkateshwara College of Nursing was the chief guest of the day and she gave a guest lecture on the theme. Dr. Prabhavathy, Registrar, Saveetha University, Thandalam was the guest of honour. Dr. Sharadha Ramesh , Principal, Saveetha College of Nursing, gave special address to the gathering. Exhibition was conducted by the M.Sc (N) I year students on journaling and won prizes.
WORLD POPULATION DAY
World population day was celebrated on 14.07.2011 at Shenoy Nagar Corporation Hospital. Students  created awareness regarding family welfare. They displayed the poster on methods of family planning and performed the skit on family welfare. Students were appreciated with prizes.

YOUTH  RED CROSS
Our students have enrolled their name in youth red cross and are actively participating in various activities which is organized by the Red Cross society

QUIZ COMPETITION
Quiz competition was conducted on the occasion of Nurses day celebration on 02.05 2011 with the theme: “CLOSING THE GAP: INCREASING ACCESS AND EQUITY”.

INTER COLLEGE CULTURAL PROGRAMME
 “ Bonventure”  was conducted by Apollo College Of Nursing, Chennai conducted for three days from 31.03.2011 to 02.04.2011. Our students participated in many of the cultural programmes and won many prizes. Neethu Varghese, B.Sc(N) IV year student has participated in beauty contest and was crowned  Miss charming of Chennai Nursing Colleges
ALUMANE ASSOCIATION
The first alumni association meeting was conducted on 03.03.10. The executive members of alumni association were elected by the alumni members and created bye laws with the help of legal advisor. The members were requested to inform about alumni to their friends and batch mates to register in the alumni association and created address book with E-mail id.
