The work of God always begins as something small and seemingly insignificant, like a tiny mustard seed. Similarly, the Congregation of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (FHIC) found their roots in the congregation of the Portuguese. Mother Maria Clara Do Menno Jesus as the Superior General and Father Raimundo dos Anjou’s Biro as co-founder. Inflamed with the charity of God and with the ardent desire to comfort, relieve, uplift and assist, everyone in need of any kind, they began their zealous ministry by serving the sick.
Illness, suffering and death are a menance to existing human life. Keeping this in mind the FHIC sisters attempted to impart Nursing education to the poor and marginalized girls targeted towards building a world of healthy individuals by rendering quality Nursing Care through quality Nursing Education. Thus the school of Nursing was established in 1983 with the motto “LIGHTED TO SERVE”. The institution continuously strives to instill in the students, a sense of values-both divine and human, making them ready for any good work. |
