SCHOOL OF NURSING
The academic activity of School of Nursing revolves on the study day system and they appear for the Tamil Nadu state government board examination for General Nursing and Midwifery in theory and practical.

Awards:
Ms. M. Subathra, received the “Mother Theresa Gold Medal” for the year 2007 given for the best outgoing student and top scorer in the board exams.

Faculty Development:
3 Faculty members have presented papers during the International conference held at Sri Ramachandra University.

SNA Activities:
The active SNA unit of the school conducted annual sports and cultural competitions and students were awarded for their achievement.
Camps:

Students actively participated in the blood donation camps, medical camp, eye camp and pulse polio programme.

COLLEGE OF NURSING.
ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Students are provided an atmosphere that is supportive of all round learning while at the same time maintaining highest standards of discipline and conduct.
  • Excellent infrastructure is available to advocate and practice nursing.
  • Study room facility is available from 7pm -   9pm in the college premises.
  • Students learn with latest technology like simulators in the demonstration labs
  • Special coaching classes are given for slow learners
  • Parent teachers meeting are held annually twice
  • Bimonthly reports on students to keep track of their ward’s progress and attendance and information about ward’s participation in curricular, co curricular and extra curricular activities are given.
  • Guidance and counseling given to our students is our strength
  • Availability of Multidisciplinary clinical areas within the campus makes learning more effective
  • Giving opportunity for drop out students to join again
  • Nursing committee constituted with members of School and College of Nursing and Nursing Service helps to streamline the execution of Nursing curriculum and Nursing practice. 
  • Post Graduate CNE annually is an asset in developing the young Professionals
  • 13 faculty members are currently pursuing their Ph.D.
  • Every year, a Career Orientation programme is organized for the outgoing batch of students.
  • About 60% of the outgoing undergraduate  students are employed in the University hospital services.
  • Cash rewards named after the founder Chancellor are given to the top scorer in each semester of the Undergraduate program. 
  • Ragging and other forms of behaviour not conducive for student welfare are strictly controlled.
  • University office-bearers are freely accessible to all students to ensure prompt action on any student matter requiring attention
  • Leadership is encouraged among students. Student leaders for each committee are appointed in various classes.

AWARDS:

Prof. P.V. Ramachandran, Chairman, Nursing Education was conferred the International Nightingale Award for the year 2008 by University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, USA on 8.5.2008 during the International Nurses Week.

Dr. Mrs. C. Kanniammal and Mrs. Sharadha Ramesh, Readers were awarded for research by Sigma Theta Tau International on April 2007 and April 2008 respectively

PAPERS PRESENTED:
32 faculty members and 3 M.Sc. Nursing students from SRCON and totally 83 research papers and 5 scientific papers were presented in 4th International Nurses Conference, January 2008, with the theme: Empowering Nursing: Reshaping Nursing Practice organized by Sri Ramachandra School and College of Nursing.
Faculty have also presented scientific papers in various international/ national / local forums.

FACULTYEXCHANGE PROGRAM:
Mrs. S.Santhi, Dr. Mrs. C. Kanniammal, Mrs.Sharadha Ramesh and Mrs. S.J. Nalini visited University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh as part of    faculty exchange programme in the month of April –May 2007.  Prof. P.V.Ramachandran, Chairman, Nursing Education, visited University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in the month of May 2008.

CELEBRATIONS/SPECIAL EVENTS:
Departments observed the following special days: World diabetes day, Breast feeding week Children’s day, Women’s day, World Mental Health Day

Student Nurses Association:
13th -15th 06.07: Students participated and won the prizes in the sports and culturals meet organized by Annai J.K.K Sampoorni Ammal College of Nursing, at Komarapalayam.
July 2007: SNA sports & cultural conducted.
Other celebrations include Freshers welcome , Teacher’s day , Onam, Ayudha pooja celebration, Christmas ,New year and Pongal celebrations

8 Gold medals for the top scorer in each subject in Undergraduate / Postgraduate program are given on the University Day / Convocation Day which helps to motivate students in keeping high standards of the college
