INTRODUCTION: -
Vel’s group of Institutions was established in 1992. It was founded by Dr. Ishari. K. Ganesh B.L., Ph.D.,. The main motive of Vel’s group of institutions is to take education to the humble thresholds of first generation learners & weaker sections of the society.
VENKATESWARA NURSING COLLEGE CAMPUS: -
The college campus is in Thalambur, which is on old Mahabalipuram road, I.T highway. It is after Shollinganallur & just before SIPCOT software. The institutions have its own fleet of buses connecting the campus & different points of Chennai.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES
All departments in nursing are well equipped with latest equipments. The following laboratories is established in spacious space which is a special feature of this institution

- Fundamental lab with 2 mannequin worth each 1 lakh Rupees
- Child health nursing with pediatric mannequin CPR bag, New born resuscitation try
- Maternal nursing – pelvis, skull, phantom, uterus, baby
- Community health nursing – good AV aids, area map covering local village, community bag
- Anatomy & physiology – specimens, models & skeleton
- Nutrition demonstration with 4 gas stove, needed diet chart & cooking vessels & other items
- Digital laboratory with 15 computers with Internet facilities, ups, printers etc…

SPORTS & GAMES
Indoor & outdoor games facilities are available within the campus. Gymnasium with modern
equipment has been installed within campus premises.
LIBRARY
There is fully computerizes library located in a well – lit and ventilated hall. It has a collection of around 1500 books & 20 national & international journals.
COMPUTER LAB
The computer lab has Pentium IV file serves and systems with multi media facilities. Broadband Internet connection is available. The lab is fully air conditioned and run by competent and qualified faculty.
FACULTY
Imparting effective instruction is the most important of an academic institution. The management has taken all efforts to secure a team of qualified and dedicated staff in all departments. Each department is headed by highly qualified faculty with sufficient qualified staff members.
Adequate non – teaching staffs are available to carry out
administration works.
Hospital (Parental / Affiliated)
To gain rich exposure in clinicals set up for both Hospitals & community. The institutions have established tie-up with Government hospital Tambaram at chrompet which has 152 bed strength and Life Line multi specialty Hospital with 225 bed strength, Institute of Mental Health – 1800 bedded, Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust hospital – 187 bedded hospitals for the other specialties.
Community
(Urban, Rural Profile)
For community posting we have tie-up with PHC, Kelamabakkam as urban community health and for rural we have voluntary health center at Thalambur named as “Vels Venkateswara health center” to gain community experience for the students.
Our own100 bedded hospital is under construction within the campus, which will be opened at the end of the year of 2008
Hostel facilities
The institution has own separate hostel for boys & girls. There are separate spacious dinning halls available in the hostel. There are adequate numbers of toilet bathroom facilities for boys & girls.
Our college hostel is attached within the campus. 29 Girl’s & 12 boys are staying in the hostel. Separate hostel for boys & girl’s.

- No restriction for usage of water & electricity
- Individual cot, bed, pillow, bed spread, table, chair, is provided for each students
- First aid kit available incase students fall in sick or get injured
