Apollo hospitals brought international health care with in the reach of every individual in India hitherto available only to the elite. To maintain this excellence in health care we needed nurses of good calibre and culture. This paved way to the beginning of a training programme for Nurses who confirm to Apollo’s specific culture and quality standards.
A nurse has a pivotal role in ensuring and maintaining quality health care is doubly evident from the depiction of nurse as the Apollo Hospitals Logo. ‘A basic nursing Programme’ was started under the guidance of Lt.Col. Ms. Violet David, the first Nursing Director of Apollo Hospitals in 1992 consisting of 20 students per annum.
The AHET is headed by our enterprising Chairman Padmabhushan Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, our dynamic Managing Director Mrs. Preetha Reddy, and our versatile Chief Operating Trustee Mr. V.Satyanarayana Reddy. Apollo Hospitals Educational trust is created by the Apollo Hospitals, to promote medical and paramedical education to establish educational institutions, to develop Research facilities and to run Health clinics and Hospitals.

Apollo, as it stands today, is the realization of the dreams of its Dynamic Chairman Padmabhusan Dr. Prathap. C. Reddy who established the first corporate hospital in India in 1983. What began as a dream to provide medical excellence to the millions of Indians who perished simply because essential medical care was not available in India, turned out to be a saga of success later, he extended his purview to the educational sector, the onus being on holistic preparation of nurses. Hence, the Apollo Hospitals Educational Trust was started in 1996, with the twin objective of education and manpower development. The Apollo Hospitals Educational Trust is headed by our enterprising Chairman and our versatile Managing Director. The main purpose of the college of nursing is to prepare a new breed of nurses who will deftly handle the diverse situations that arise in the course of their career.

The aim of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery programme is to prepare a general nurse to function as a member of the healthcare team, bringing competency to the hospital and the community.
