The Vision of Billroth Medical & Education Trust is to give standard medical and Para Medical education at attainable cost with international standards to deliver quality health care. It was established on 6th day of December 2000 by Dr. V.Jeganathan S/o Late S.Venkataswamy. The aim of the trust is to enable a healthy society by providing free medical care and education within the limits.
Billroth College of Nursing
Billroth College of Nursing is located in serene location on Poonamallee Highway Road at Maduravoyal, Chennai. The college building measures more than 20000sq ft (18 grounds) with all infrastructure facilities including auditorium, class rooms, Nursing and Science labs, library & games field. The college has existing parent hospital with the capacity of 400 beds measuring 1, 20,000 sq ft at Shenoy Nagar with various specialties. It also has a branch at R.A. Puram with the bed capacity of 103.
The college is located at a distance of 6 km from the parent hospital. However, the trust also under its possession of a sprawling campus measuring 55 acres at Poonamallee where the proposed College of Nursing is planned to be constructed with world class infrastructure. The college has collaborative arrangements with various specialty hospitals & Community centers to cater the needs of the students.

FUTURE PLAN

Shifting the college to a spacious site with the hostel and hospital in the campus to establish a model setup. Starting postgraduate programme in Nursing, upgrading all the departments and improving research committee activities especially in rural health services for standardization in national and international level.

VISION, MISSION, PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES OF OUR INSTITUTION

Philosophy
We, the faculty of this college, believe that this B.Sc (N) 4 years programme will be able to prepare our students to meet the standards of the profession, follow the code of ethics & deliver the quality and cost effective care in any settings.
Aims

• Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and Midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
• Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services, and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice.  They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical and public health setting.

Objectives

• Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
• Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.
• Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.
• Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
• Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
• Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.
• Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and team work.
• Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical / community health settings.
• Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.
• Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical / community health settings.
• Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.
