The Seed of the Trust was the Noble aim of Mr.K.Shellapha Gounder and Dr.P.Kandasamy,M.A.,Ph.D., Mr.K.Shellapha Gounder is an agriculturlist belonging to a remote village of Trichengode taluk, in Namakkal District. He wanted to educate the children of his own village Palanaickanpalayam and for that purpose he utilized his influence of the post of the Panchayat President.
As a fonder of social service, he participated in the activities of the village Panchayat in his capacity as its President.In his village to enlighten the public of the village,he started a library.He is living as a simple farmer of the village.His wife Mrs.Palaniammal who is a house wife is a big support to him.He imparted good education to his elder son Mr.S.Rajamanickom to get M.B.B.S degree from the Coimbatore Medical College.He did his post graduate degree in M.S (Ortho). Further, he got MAMS at Vienne and M.Ch.,Ortho at U.K.He is a leading Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salem with 24 Years of experience (After P.G qualification)
Dr.P.Kandasamy M.A.Ph.D,retired Professor,PSG Tech with 52 years of teaching experience is also a gentleman from an agricultural family of Sangarandampalayam. He was the first villager who got post graduation in 1956. His wife Mrs.A.Ponnammal,when ladies were prohibited from going to schools, in those days, worked as a teacher. He gave higher education to his four daughters. Out of the four, two daughters got their Doctorate degree by doing Ph.D., in their teaching field. The other two daughters are practising as Gynaecologist at Salem, of whom Dr.K.Punithavathi wife of Dr.S.Rajamanickom. is a well known Obstetrician &Gynaecologist and Radiologist at Salem with 20 years of experience.
To fulfill the object of the elders The “Bharani Educational and Health Trust” Salem was started in the year 2002 under the presidentship of Dr.S.Rajamanickom.The trustees are highly qualified either in Medicine are in Education.
Future plans
The trust is having keen interest to start a College Of Nursing at Salem and if possible other Para Medical Courses such as pharmacy and Physiotherapy.
It is focusing its efforts in Rural Health Services for standardisation in National and International level. |
