Regulation for Establishing College of Nursing
(M.Sc. Nursing)


I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The candidates seeking admission to Master's Programme in Nursing must have completed B.Sc. (Nursing) from any Institute or University recognized by Indian Nursing Council. Those seeking admission for specialization in Midwifery (Obstetrics) and Obstretical Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Maternal Child Health Nursing shall be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, whereas for other specialties, the candidate shall be a Registered Nurse.


1 The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.

The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of:
B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc.Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

The candidate should have undergone the full time (regular stream not distance mode) course in B.Sc. Nursing /B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
4 Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
5 Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (regular stream).
6 Candidate shall be medically fit.

ENTRANCE/SELECTION TEST:
Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by University or competent authority.

One in each speciailty and all the M.Sc.,(N) qualified teaching faculty will participate in both programmes.

Super-speciality hospital like cardio-thoracic hospital/cancer can start M.Sc.,(N) programme with annual intake of 10 M.Sc.,(N) in cardio-thoracic/cancer. The nursing faculty recruited should be as given below:

The above faculty shall perform dual role

OFFICE STAFF
One Steno and one Typist for Master of Nursing Programme.

III. PHYSICAL FACILITIES FOR COLLEGE:

In addition to the facilities available for the undergraduate programme, the following facilities need to be expanded.

1. TEACHING BLOCK :-

i) A separate rooms for the HOD
ii) Readers and Lecturers are accommodated in half cabin provision (space provision according to the post)
iii) For Postgraduate students

Uptodate books in the different clinical specialities, Books on Nursing education, Nursing Administration/ management, Research, Statistics,(3000 titles) of nursing books specialitywise along with published / unpublished dissertations, projects, thesis, reports,
2 Internet facilities with online journals
3 Departmental Library for PG students.
4 Separate reading room facility for the PG students.
5 Each Department need to have computer with internet facility
6 Discussion room in the library for P.G.students
7 Library information system
8 Room for xerox/binding provision to be made.

Clinical Specialities in Nursing - 5 journals in each speciality ie., 5 branches offered by the institutions, 25 journals to be subscribed apart from General & Medical journals

 

 

(ii) AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS:
- Slide sound synchronizer
- OHP
- Slide Projector
- LCD
- Overhead Projector
- TV, Tape Recorder/Radio.

HOSTEL:-

For Postgraduate students - preferably single accommodation living in campus residence is optional.

IV. CLINICAL FACILITIES :-

HOSPITALS:-

1. The parent/affiliated hospital should provide for the clinical learning experiences required for the students in the areas of Medical, Surgical, Pediatric, OBG & Psychiatric Nursing.
2. There should be a variety of patients of all age groups in all the clinical areas where the students are posted for obtaining the requisite learning experiences.

Community:
Own community centre (urban & rural) to be established
Govt. PHC affiliation to be produced
(V.A.O / Panchayat President permission should be obtained for own Rural community. Permission to be obtained from Municipality/Corporation for urban community )

a) Bed Occupancy 75%
   
b) The size of the Hospital/ Nursing Home for affiliation should not be less than 50 beds.
   
c) For Other Specialties & super specialities affiliation to be obtained.
i. Major OT Permission to be obtained from Medical College attached hospitals.
